Neutrophilia : An increase in the number of circulating neutrophils is called a neutrophilia or a neutrophil leucocytosis. It can result from an increased production of cells from the bone marrow or redistribution from the marginated pool. The normal neutrophil count depends on age, race and certain physiological parameters. During pregnancy, not only is there an increase in neutrophils but also earlier forms, such as metamyelocytes, can be found in the blood. The causes of a neutrophilia are shown in Above figure.
